The new shirts that have been ordered have just come in today! Everybody has just got their shirts and they are looking good! We took some group photos for each team. Here's how they look:
Today, we are finishing up our robots for tomorrow's competition at Otay Ranch. During the build, Team A is tweaking their robot and they are running trials for the robot. They are hard at work. Team B is just building, preparing their intake arms and will soon be ready for driving trials. Team C is also improving their intake arms. They are making their robots the best they can be. They are getting ready for driving trials.
The new shirts that have been ordered have just come in today! Everybody has just got their shirts and they are looking good! We took some group photos for each team. Here's how they look: Today in Royal Robotics, we built and moved around the new field we had just received to practice Tower Takeover. Our teams have been working tirelessly to attach their lifts and intakes to their robots. The programmers have also been constantly improving their autonomics. We will be having a scrimmage soon and Team C will be seeking redemption from previously being beaten by Team B.The outcome of the scrimmage ended up with Team winning.
Over the years, Royal Robotics has attended many outreaches, and one outreach we strive to attend every year is Harbor Fest! Harbor Fest is a summer event in Chula Vista where there is live music, exiting activities, and great food. Royal Robotics was at Harbor Fest to spread the word about VEX and the work in robotics we do. Our engineers spent some time planning prototypes and our programmers ran some autonomous-es. We introduced many parents and young children to STEM, and they were thrilled to put together some of their own creations using some of the parts and tools we brought along with us (both parents and kids!). We explained how we compete in tournaments and this years game, so more people were informed about what VEX really is and all the components needed to have a functioning, well rounded team. Our members learned how to fish and enjoyed the other stalls with games like skee ball and jumped at bouncy castles. As we searched for sponsors, we met some families who were interested in robotics, and got them interested in starting robotics teams in their own school. Overall, this was a very fun and successful outreach and we look forward to attending more outreaches this season. Kicking off the season on a great start, in our first build we started to train our newest additions to the team: the seventh graders! We are really exited to welcome our talented new additions to the team. Once the teams were assigned, we got to work right away. The engineers started to build the chassis for our bots, as well as training the 7th graders. We have just upgraded to V5, a brand new innovative way to code, build, and configure the robots. Our programmers began experimenting with the new V5 coding studio right away and started creating wonders. This is going to be the one of many builds, but the start to a fantastic year. There will be hardships and struggles but 6446 is ready to face them!
This build was at Rancho del Rey. The focus was to train the new members for next year's season. We received some new members from the recent tryouts. The future engineers are being taught to construct robots, while the future programmers are learning robotC, the code we use. The members from the last season are trying to be as hands-off as possible, to ensure a better learning experience for this season's members. Last Saturday, May 18, we attended the Viva La Musica outreach at Chula Vista Memorial Park. There was music, food, and games. Our team members interacted with and informed attendees of the event the work team 6446 does. Children who attended the booth, got to experience building and driving our wonderful robots. They were so immersed, that they didn't want to leave as they were having a great experience. We explained the properties of the notebook and how they are made; in collaboration with the game elements. Our many awards were available on showcase and children could have some stickers as a souvenir. Overall, this spread the word to many interested future engineers in a fun and interactive way! Below are some photos of the event to enjoy: Team A
