Over the years, Royal Robotics has attended many outreaches, and one outreach we strive to attend every year is Harbor Fest! Harbor Fest is a summer event in Chula Vista where there is live music, exiting activities, and great food. Royal Robotics was at Harbor Fest to spread the word about VEX and the work in robotics we do. Our engineers spent some time planning prototypes and our programmers ran some autonomous-es. We introduced many parents and young children to STEM, and they were thrilled to put together some of their own creations using some of the parts and tools we brought along with us (both parents and kids!). We explained how we compete in tournaments and this years game, so more people were informed about what VEX really is and all the components needed to have a functioning, well rounded team. Our members learned how to fish and enjoyed the other stalls with games like skee ball and jumped at bouncy castles. As we searched for sponsors, we met some families who were interested in robotics, and got them interested in starting robotics teams in their own school. Overall, this was a very fun and successful outreach and we look forward to attending more outreaches this season.
Kicking off the season on a great start, in our first build we started to train our newest additions to the team: the seventh graders! We are really exited to welcome our talented new additions to the team. Once the teams were assigned, we got to work right away. The engineers started to build the chassis for our bots, as well as training the 7th graders. We have just upgraded to V5, a brand new innovative way to code, build, and configure the robots. Our programmers began experimenting with the new V5 coding studio right away and started creating wonders. This is going to be the one of many builds, but the start to a fantastic year. There will be hardships and struggles but 6446 is ready to face them!
